Look at me! Get drunk on my appearance! Now, I will destroy you!
―Tanino Gimlet

Tanino Gimlet (タニノギムレット, Tanino Gimlet) is a character in Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.

Personality[]

Tanino Gimlet is a horse girl who has a distinctive aesthetic and will act only according to it, thinking that she might look cool doing it. She has a strong obsession with "speed" in mile distances and "strength" in mid distances, but she also possesses a formidable talent for both distances. Vodka always seems to look at her with a twinkle in her eye. She is also a destroyer of fences, often breaking them down as a special appeal feature.

Appearance[]

Tanino Gimlet has yellow eyes as well as short bay brown hair with bangs covering her right eye. The points actually differing her from Vodka is her darker hair with a purple tinge, a regular white streak (as opposed to Vodka's irregular-shaped streak), a lack of ponytail (hence, short hair), blue inner ear fur, an eyepatch covering her right eye and a clasp accessory on her right ear.

Trivia[]

  • Tanino Gimlet is one of the only horse girls to refer to herself with the very masculine pronoun "ore". However, in her introductory quote, she refers to herself with both "ore" and "watashi".
    • The only other horse girl to refer to herself with "ore" is Vodka, who, in real life, was sired by Tanino Gimlet.

Real Life[]

A cup of pleasure in your hand
Though you didn't have overconfidense and carelessness,
You didn't have the luck, too.
Regret, mortification, and resentment cumulated.
It might have been yourself that got the cup.
Let's be drunk today.
Slam your all passion on the turf.
After you do your very best.
Surely a cup of pleasure waits for you.

Tanino Gimlet is a racehorse from the early 2000s. He won the Japanese Derby, but retired afterwards due to a bowed tendon. He sired Vodka, who also won the Derby.

  • His trainer Kunihide Matsuda often had his horses run NHK Mile Cup and the Derby. He believed it was the earliest way to enhance the value as studhorses if they won both mile and middle distance. but it has only two weeks between both races, and many horses injured and retired. Tanino Gimlet was one of those horses.
    • King Kamehameha, that he trained after Gimlet retired, actually won both. He became a leading sire in 2010-2011.
  • He retired from stallion work in 2020, and moved to Versailles Resort Farm.
  • He likes to destroy the fences around his paddock. Farm staffs nicknamed him "the Destroying God" and he has been destroying countless fences.
  • In the May of 2022, Versailles Resort Farm raised contributions for his birthday and fences he had destroyed.
He is the only Derby horse in our farm. We would like more fans to see his diginity.
Wishing his health and coming his birthday again with fans, and protecting resourses for fences from him, we will congratulate his birthday.
