Misato Akasaka (赤坂 美聡, Akasaka Misato) is one of the supporting characters in the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.Her name is never directly mentioned in the anime, but she is credited as Misato Akasaka[1] in the credits of the anime, and as 実況の赤坂さん (Jikkyou no Akasaka-san, Commentator Lady Akasaka) in the credits of the mini-album Animation Derby 07.[2] Aside from the anime, she also makes an appearance in the manga, the STARTING GATE series.
Akasaka is a commentator for the horse girls races in the Twinkle Series in the anime and in the manga. She is frequently shown observing races from a special viewing chamber accompanied with other characters serving as fellow commentators, such as Junko Hosoe and Yutaka Take.
Personality[]
Akasaka seems to be an energetic young woman who is enthusiastic about her job. She has genuine passion for horse girls racing, and is often shown smiling and being expressive as she comments on the races. Due to being so passionate, she often gets overly emotional and is said to have shed tears during commentating on several occasions[3], as evidenced by how she appears to be genuinely moved and cries tears of joy during Suzuka's comeback race in the anime.[4]
Appearance[]
Akasaka is a young woman with dark green curly hair which grows outward, towards either sides of her head. She has dark green hair and similarly dark green short eyebrows.
She wears a white shirt and a dark green tie, along with a tight orange mini-skirt accompanied by a dark brown stockings. She wears a communication device consisting of a headphone and a mic for commentating purposes.
Etymology[]
- The name Misato means "beautiful" (美) (mi) and "intelligent, clever, bright" (聡) (sato).
- Misato's surname Akasaka means "red" (赤) (aka) and "slope, hill" (坂) (saka).
Trivia[]
- Her name is a modification and anagram of the name of her voice actress, Satomi Akesaka.
