- “Got somethin' on your mind? Well, don't hesitate to count on me!”
- ―Mejiro Palmer
Mejiro Palmer (メジロパーマー) is a character in Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.
Profile[]
Subverting all expectations of what it means to be a daughter of the Mejiro Family, Mejiro Palmer is very sociable and is the mood-maker of all her friend groups. A kind horse girl at heart, she is especially perceptive to even the slightest changes in others.
Being different to everyone else, however, sometimes has its consequences as she sometimes can't help feeling like the black sheep of the Mejiros, comparing herself to all the other, more talented horse girls in the Family.
But she has a solution... escaping from all the bad thoughts! If she keeps running with that positive attitude of hers, she'll eventually find and blaze her very own path in the world of horse racing.
Appearance[]
Mejiro Palmer is a horse girl with brown hair (and a small white streak whichzigzags in the middle of her hair). The back of her hair is tied into a ponytail, and has a ring shaped sidelock on her right ear.
Her racing uniform consists of a yellow shirt, white jacket with smaller green details, and a black skirt with a pink ribbon on the skirt's belt area.

Real Life[]
- “And Someday
I've been proud of my friends succeeding,
But I've also felt irritated with me.
Though I'm running at the top,
I'm not leading, but chasing their back.
I'll shorten the difference,
And someday, I'll leave them behind.” - ―JRA Portrait of the Bucephalus[2]
Mejiro Palmer is a racehorse in the early 1990s. He was known as one of super frontrunning combi with Daitaku Helios. Despite he was not so expected even by Mejiro Farm and once he ran as a hurdle racer, he returned and won two Grand Prix in a row.
- His name comes from a professional golfer Arnold Daniel Palmer. Mejiro's 1987-born colts were named after American celebrities, same as Mejiro Ryan and Mejiro McQueen.
- His team once sent him to hurdle races. But he was very poor at jumping, Soon they felt it was dangerous for him to jump hurdles, and returned to flat race. This experience trained his back muscle and stamina. It is said it caused winning Grand Prix.
- At 1992 Takarazuka Kinen, Mejiro Farm were going to send McQueen and Palmer. They planned tour to see McQueen, though, He fractured his leg and avoided the race. Farm staff were disappointed, and cancelled the tour. As it was, he won against 9th popularity. That's why Mejiro Farm president Miya Kitano didn't stand on his winner's circle.
- When Palmer and Helios ran together, they "stupidly" overrode at high pace. Their running styles consumed other horses' stamina. At 1992 Tenno Sho Autumn Palmer lost, but at Arima Kinen he won again. Especially it was difficult for Tokai Teio to deal with them, and he sank at both races.
- He didn't succeed as a studhorse. However, one of his son Mejiro Raiden won 2002 Kyoto High Jump (J-G2) and placed third at 2004 Nakayama Dai Shogai (J-G1).
